Donations

Financial Gifts

Donations to the Quogue Library become part of the library’s reserve fund and are used for capital improvements and for the purchase of materials, programs or equipment not included in the normal operating budget.

In addition to the Annual Appeal, the library invites people particularly interested in specific parts of the Collection, Programs or buildings and grounds to make Restricted Gifts in support of that interest. All restricted gifts are subject to approval by the Board of Trustees and must align with the library’s mission and need.

Non-Financial gifts to the Library

All gifts to the Quogue Library must support the library’s mission statement and become the sole property of the Library.

Books or other library materials are evaluated according to the same criteria applied to materials that we purchase. Materials not kept for the collection may be sold to benefit the library.

Generally, the library does not accept outdated informational books or textbooks, books that are musty or mildewed, annotated or in poor condition, periodicals, puzzles or VHS tapes.

Please contact Library Board President, Barbara V. Sartorius, to discuss the non-financial gifts, other than books.

QUOGUE LIBRARY SOCIETY

Throughout its history Quogue Library’s significant capital investments in its buildings and grounds have been funded almost entirely through philanthropic contributions from community residents.

In 2000 the Quogue Library Society was established as the formal means to invite financial support from the community and to provide recognition and thanks to the hundreds of residents who have donated generously through the years.

The funds have enabled the library to achieve excellence by investing in emerging technologies, creating outstanding new programs, meeting unforeseen emergencies and replacing outmoded equipment. Each summer the QLS Annual Gala is held to thank donors and to celebrate the library’s accomplishments.

In 2018 the Quogue Library Society provided a Cornerstone gift to launch the Capital Campaign. Now, thanks to the most recent expansion and refurbishment, the Library is ready to serve patrons in the Information Age while retaining the architectural charm and historical ambiance that makes reading, browsing or just relaxing in its comfortable rooms such a pleasure. With over 120 years of continuous service to the community, the Library remains a resource for all ages.

As a supporter of the Quogue Library Society you will have that personal sense of satisfaction knowing that you have helped your library carry forward its mission to inform, inspire, entertain and challenge all who enter its doors or its online presence.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

The Quogue Library launched a capital campaign in June 2018. More than $6 million was raised from the residents and friends of the library and an additional $400,000 from the New York State Library Construction Aid grants program. The funds were used to add a new Children’s Room and Art Gallery to the building and to completely renovate, furnish and equip the entire facility.
